Midtown Sunset Reflections (New York)

This photo is an addition to my Photo Location Guide post “An Unconventional Way to Photograph New York”. In my guide I share with you my experience of how to hack one of the most touristy activities in New York to improve and distinguish your travel photography.

The main disadvantage of using the upper deck of the tourist bus as your photo platform is that you don’t get to photograph sunrises and sunsets, since the tour line only operates from 8am to 6pm. But you still can take advantage of the pre-dawn hours, when the sun is starting to rise and illuminates Manhattan’s architecture from a low angle. At this point you have endless photo opportunities to capture colorful reflections of the city.

Right now I cannot pinpoint the exact location of the featured photo, but it was somewhere on the East Side in Midtown.

Normally when you photograph from a moving bus you do not have time to take multiple exposures for HDR Photography, but in this particular case I managed to take 3 fast shots when the bus stopped in traffic.
